Projektbeschreibung der*des Nominierenden
| Prof. Verbaarschot is a leading researcher in theoretical particle physics, or more precisely quantum chromodynamics (QCD), the fundamental theory describing the interactions of quarks and gluons. His most famous contribution is the invention of chiral random matrix theory. Using this theory, many new analytical results could be calculated. He also pioneered a number of mathematical methods that are in common use today. In his joint research project with colleagues in Germany, he will apply chiral random matrix theory to study several open problems in QCD at nonzero quark density. |
